This battle saw the Separatists take on the Galactic Republic on the planet of Kashyyyk at 800 points. We didn’t go full on Wookies, but we did manage to fit in two units along with Chewbaca so as you can imagine the Wookie roar was used more than once!
We played a scenario where there were four objective markers worth 1 Victory Point each starting on turn 2 and each side had four units marked for death that would be worth 1 Victory Point each. I never remembered which units were worth extra Victory Points figuring with almost half of each force being worth bonus points I’d just focus on what was the most dangerous!
Those Wookies were the first to draw Separatist fire as the Spider Droid scuttled on the board and wounded 1 of the fuzzballs while the AAT rumbled on the board and killed off the wounded Wookie and a clone which was readying to hold the objective next turn.

The BARC flew on the board and destroyed 1 B2 and wounded another.

The table at the end of turn 1. The Galactic Republic was in good shape to start earning victory points this turn. That giant radar dish looks awesome, but taking pictures around it for this battle report was a challenge!

At the start of turn two the AAT continued to lay down fire and killed two clones on the objective.

In an act of sheer defiance (some would say recklessness) the BARC speeder took the high ground on top of the bunker to open fire on the Spider Droid. After an impressive six hits the Droid walked out of the smoke unscathed having passed all it’s saves! In return it opened fire on the daring BARC speeder and put a wound on it!

The blue clones ran up to take the objective hoping to use the crates as cover and opened fire on the B1’s in the woods killing four of them!

The Wookies started to whittle down the B1’s in front of them and kileld two with shooting. The Wookie chieftain drew a lot of fire this turn and took a total of four wounds from various elements of the Separatist army!

Asajj Ventress moved up to engage the BARC but was just out of range so she had her unit hug cover.

Chewy led his Wookies around the corner and opened fire on the BX Commandos killing two of the deadly droids!

At the end of turn two Victory Points were tied at 2-2!
The Wookie chieftain charged into the B1’s figuring it safer to fight a mass of B1’s than get shot at by an AAT tank, snipers and a B1! He managed to kill two of the droids.

Asajj Ventress and her commandos charged into the Wookies cutting down one of the angry fuzzballs and putting two wounds on another!

That was a fairly sad save roll….

The blue squad of clones by the crates killed 2 B1’s in the woods, leaving just the unit leader alive, but able to contest the objective! The Green squad killed 2 B1’s before the B1’s could open fire on them!

The Spider Droid killed off the foolishly brave BARC speeder and the B2’s hit the clones six out of six times, but the clones were able to save 4 of the wounds! This could have gone a lot worse for the clones if they had taken another two B2’s worth of shooting!

The AAT opened fire on Padame and due to its High Velocity rule was able to ignore her pile of Dodge tokens, putting four wounds on her!

Meanwhile the clones opened fire on the BX Sniper team and despite pumping out 7 hits only killed the spotter after a flurry of saves!

At the end of turn three the Seperataists took a slight lead on Victory points going up 6-4.
The AAT opened fire with it’s dual weapons and killed Padame and a Wookie from the right flank, with a B1 finishing off the remaining Wookie from the unit.
The Wookie Chieftain struck down 2 B1’s continuing the protracted combat.

The enraged defenders of Kashyyyk were able to get the drop on Asajj and her BX droids and were able to cause just enough wounds to wipe the unit off the table! The surviving B1 that fell back from the combined fire of the clones to escape destruction suddenly regreted it’s life choices as it no longer had Asajj between it and the enraged Wookies!

The clones hunkering near the satellite were able to finish off the BX sniper team.

The remaining Clones near the bunker advanced to help control the objective even if the Spider Droid were able to scuttle over!

At the end of turn four the Galactic Republic was able to claw its way back, leading 8-7!
There were a lot less troops at the start of turn five then there was at the beginning of the game! (If you look at the bunker you can see a little droid guarding the objective. That was my stand in for R2D2 who didn’t do much more than hold the objective all game. If the BARC had survived the previous turn I was going to fly it over to see if R2D2 could repair it but it wasn’t meant to be!)

The Wookies charged the lone B1 and in a forgone conclusion ripped it apart! That was an expensive B1 as that was one of the units marked for destruction and was thus worth one Victory Point!

Unfortunately for the Wookie Chieftain the B1’s disengaged allowing him to be targeted by the AAT and bloody and broken he went down for the count. The tank also managed to kill one of the clones by the bunker but the unit was still combat effective.

In the last action of the game the Spider Droid killed the three remaining cloens from the Green squad but was unable to get close enough to contest the objective. The blue squad was able to get in the forest in the protection of the trees and out of the Spiders line of sight. They would have been the better choice if they could be seen because they were worth a Victory Point if destroyed but it was not to be.

With that the game ended 12-9 in favor of the Galactic Republic.

I am learning most games of Star Wars Legion are going to be bloody affairs and this one was no different! The important thing this game was I finally remembered to focus on objectives and not just kills. While R2D2 didn’t do much having him hold the objective certainly helped in the long run. Sure a unit of basic clones cost the same as R2D2 and could have done more but I might have been tempted to try and use them for kills instead of holding an objective so for me it was probably a win!
I hope you enjoyed reading this Battle Report, I enjoyed writing it!
