Now that the newest edition of Star Wars Legion is out it was time for a game! The fact that we played this game on Revenge of the 5th (of May) made it even more fitting! This is our second game under the new rules, but this time we played a small enough game that we were able to play it to a decent conclusion. We put 600 points of Separatists against 600 points of Galactic Republic and went to war!
The one thing I don’t like about this edition from a battle report perspective is the fact that you don’t get any real good start of the game pictures as everything starts off board! With that we hop into the action as a BARC Speeder swoops onto the table to engage a unit if B1 Battle Droids destroying 5 of the clankers!

As more troops roll onto the table the Separatist sniper put a point of damage on the BARC speeder in return.

On the right side of the table the Wookies scale the star ports walls and are met by the BX droids who put a wound on the Wookies.

The Magma Guard charge into the Clones who took the far left objective cutting two of the troopers down!

In order to get a better vantage point a unit of clones climbed on top of the roof and opened fire on the B1 Droids who were targeted by the BARC in turn one taking out another 6 of the clankers!

Another shot of the action as the BARC moves up.

The board as the game progressed in turn two.

Just off camera from above we get a look at the action and see the BX droids pump out a lot of shots on the Wookies who only get poisoned after their saves! In return the Wookies opened fire with a ton of shots but due to some poor rolling only killed one of the BX droids. It would be very important to get the first Special Forces pull next turn! (Just under the archway is one of the Points of Interest)

While all the shooting was going on Padame lurked on the high ground. The turn ended with the Galactic Republic up 1-0.

In turn 3 the Galactic Republic went first and chose to activate their Clone Commander who handed out tokens like it was his job. Wait a minute. That is his job!

In the Star Port the B1 droids charged the Clone Troopers and with a massive 1 hit killed a surprised trooper who failed his save. This was going to gum up those troopers and prevent them from gunning down the B1’s and the BX droids with their X-6 Rotary Blaster! Meanwhile off camera the small unit of clones was able to kill off the BX Sniper droid and his bodyguard.

Unfortunately for the Republic the Separatists drew the first Special Forces chit giving the BX droids the jump on the Wookies which managed to kill two of the fuzzballs, but Chewie was able to return the favor and kill one off in return.

At the end of turn 3 the Separatists were able to pick up two POI’s taking the lead 2-1.
At the beginning of the fourth turn a unit of Clones was able to put three wounds on General Grevious who then proceeded to charge the BARC Speeder and cut it down!

The BX troopers managed to drag Chewie down under their robotic fists. The clones were distracted watching the assault in horror and were apparently unable to defend themselves as 3 clones were lost to B1 Droids!

Somehow I missed a picture of this unit of clones finishing off Grevious after the other units fired into him victorious as he stood over the fallen BARC speeder!

The Magma Guard abandoned their objective and cut down a unit of Clones.

In the upper left corner of the board you can see Padame managed to lurk her way across the table where she secured her secret objective. With that the turn was over with the Separatists up 4-2.

As it was getting close to the stores closing time we decided to call the game. As you can see from the above picture the Republic troops had been whittled down and would have been incapable of mounting a counter attack. It is possible they could have taken and held the open POI but the other two objectives were firmly out of reach. The republic will return!
We had a lot of fun with this game and as it was a smaller one we were able to do more than just try to learn the rules. Our last game was also a four player game but instead of 2 600 point forces we all had 600 points each and didn’t get much past he middle of turn three. My buddy put together a really great looking board and we are looking forward to more Star Wars Legion in the not so distant future!
