A Call to Arms will be held in Williamsburg Virginia October 11-13 at the Williamsburg Clarion.  The theme for the convention is The Glory of Rome.  While I have never attended A Call to Arms I have attended the Williamsburg Muster and am looking forward to an event of the same quality.  This is a smaller convention than the HMGS conventions but it is still quite fun.  They have about 15-20 games a day and about 15 vendors.  They also run a hospitality room with free snacks and beverages, something I’ve never seen at any other convention I’ve gone to.  They do take donations so I’ll have to bring some cash, two seven year olds can put down some snacks. . . . They also have a silent auction with the winners announced on Saturday evening and a Flea Market on Sunday morning.  The tables are free so if you have some stuff you want to unload this might be a great time to do so.  If you have any Flames of War BT-7’s drop me a line. . . . There will be a Bolt Action tournament on Saturday and from what I’m hearing there are still a few spots available.  One of the things being offered are Gaslands demos on Friday and Saturday. Not only can you learn to pay the game but they are going to have a build and take for your own car! If you are interested in spending a weekend at a low key, fun gaming convention in Virginia’s Historic Triangle this is the convention for you! If you plan on staying at the Clarion make sure call the hotel and make your reservation so you can take advantage of the convention rate.  Make sure you call the local number, (757) 565-2600, not the national number.  I accidently called the national reservation system and they couldn’t find the group rate but the local people had no problem. 2026 Edit: I am still looking for BT-7’s. Also, the day I scheduled this post I also wrote about my experiences at the 2026 Williamsburg Muster. It appears I have been shilling for the Southern Pancake and Waffle House for quite some time!
