After a few days of working on these Wookies off and on I finally finished them. Like the rest of my Legion figures I primarily used contrast paints. I have mixed feelings about contrast paints. I feel in some ways I could just as easily paint them with traditional paint and then add a dry brush but I have to admit they do look pretty good from 3 feet away for the effort I put in. The contrast paint does rub off fairly easily but I’m sure that is in part due to the fact that I had to hold the Wookies themselves more than I normally would as they kept falling off their bases.

You might ask why they were falling off their bases and that’s because I decided to magnetize them. Right now I’m playing the Clone Wars but if I ever decided to go to the classic period I’d like to base them for a jungle planet. As the Rebel starter box comes with another unit of Wookies I’d be well on my way to an all Wookie army! As of now each Wookie only has one magnet, even if they have two points of contact. I’m thinking it would be worth adding a magnet to the other foot to help add stability and prevent them from rotating on their base. It’s an idea, lets see if I get around to it!

Don’t ever talk to me or my son again! The classic Chewbaca is definitely smaller and skinnier than the new models, but on his own I don’t think he is that small. Even compared to the new Wookie leader I think he would blend into the unit. I probably wouldn’t pick him up if I had the Wookies unit, but since I have him and he’s painted I’ll still use him!

I had fun painting this unit and look forward to using them on the battlefield. Don’t forget “droids don’t rip your arms off when they lose!”
