Impudent Mortal Brick Walls for Toys for Tots

A few years ago I was given a bin of terrain to work on for the Toys for Tots auction. I am still pulling projects out from that pile for Toys for Tots, and this year I decided to knock out these walls from our friend Walt over at Impudent Mortal. While Walt isn’t with us anymore I’m glad that his generosity will still benefit Toys for Tots now that these are painted.

I started by spraying the walls a brick red all over. Then I used three different browns and sprayed them from a distance to create a weathered and mottled look to the bricks. After that I did an oil wash all over with a mixture of black and white oils which went in the crevasses and helped add a grimy look. I flocked the bases and added a bunch of tufts, and glued on some random posters on all the sections. As a final step I gave all the posters a wash of sepia tone to make them look like they had been sitting there a while.

As you can see they make great scatter terrain and provide much needed cover for your troops as you advance upon your enemies!

Some obviously make better cover than others with the holes blasted in the wall of course!

If you like these pieces and will be at HMGS’s Fall In! 2026 please bid early and often. All the proceeds go to Toys for Tots and will help us honor our good friend Walt Langhans.
