While on my family vacation I made sure to scout out a few different hobby shops. The first place we stopped when arriving in Valparaiso for Indiana Dunes National Park was Galactic Greg’s.
If you look on Galactic Greg’s website you’ll think they primarily do comic books. While they do have an extensive collection of comic books they have a wide range of miniature games as well.
The first thing that happens when you walk in the store is you get greeted by the Silver Surfer! You know you are in a shop that is committed when you see a statue of this size greeting you!
The definitely have a lot of comic books, both new and old as well as a large assortment of graphic novels.
They have two gaming tables that had some veterans showing a group of new players how to play Warhammer The Old World. It wasn’t a ton of gaming space but it was enough to meet up with some buddies! (Image taken from the Galactic Greg’s Facebook page.)
They also had retro toys, Heroclix and a wall of figures and accessories for role playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons. If card games are your jam they also have a bunch of Magic the Gathering and Pokemon. I’ll be honest, even though I don’t collect toys any store that carries retro toys has my respect!
Miniatures wise they had a large selection of all the current Games Workshop games, as well as a decent selection of Games Workshop novels. They also had a sale section with some deep discounts. I managed to pick up the War of the Rohirrim for only $132, down from $220! I hadn’t picked up the new rulebook yet, and I’ve wanted some Rohan houses for a while, those alone make the box worth it at this price! I was so excited for this find that I forgot to take more pictures of the product they had for sale!
The store was well lit, and very clean and organized. The employee that was working was super friendly and helpful too, just everything you want in a store! My only disappointment was they don’t sell their Galactic Greg’s T-shirts, I would have loved to get a matching pair for my buddy Greg!
