I just got back from Historicon 2019 in downtown Lancaster and I have to say the new venue is incredible! Over the last few shows my wife has been coming for at least some of the shows and she was amazed and thrilled with the new venue as well. We stayed in the new tower and the room was amazing. It was clean and very high tech. It has blackout curtains and smart TV’s that allowed you to connect directly to your Netflix account. It’s a far cry from even the updated Host rooms. The Marriot has tons of food options within easy walking distance. I like that you could walk to food options in Fredericksburg without crossing a major road like at the Host but the restaurants and even the Wegmans felt like a far walk in the Virginia sun with no shade. On Friday and Saturday you could take advantage of the wonderful Lancaster Central Market for breakfast and lunch. Obviously I can’t speak for those who couldn’t, or didn’t stay at the Marriot but in my experience this is a significant upgrade and everyone I spoke to said the same thing. It was an amazing experience. After attending Adepticon this year for the first time and being blown away but that event and venue I was feeling down on our events. I am completely revitalized and can’t wait for Historicon 2020! Oh and the Marriot was even generous enough to have some minor construction going on inside so we could feel some connection to the Host!
