If you are tied in with the Games Workshop world you probably don’t need me to tell you they are releasing Version 3 of their popular Horus Heresy game in the summer.

Of course I had to watch the Age of Darkness Saturnine Dropsite Preview while painting something totally relevant to the genre: Mordinan Iron Guard for the 40k 2nd Edition Challenge!

I actually bought the second edition of the Horus Heresy box, Age of Darkness, along with the Liber Astartes and Liber Hereticus just a few months after it was released. The rules sat on my night stand almost ever since without more than a few flip throughs. I guess I can’t say I ever actually got involved in the game! It could be in part because the Age of Darkness box had Mark VI armor and I decided I wanted to play the Iron Warriors. While the IV Legion, like all the other legions, would end up with some Mark VI it didn’t scream Iron Warrior to me. I have a feeling I’ll end up getting this new box, but even if I don’t a friend has already offered to swap my Mark VI armor for the Mark II armor in the box as he doesn’t like Mark II. Spoken like a true loyalist! Unlike the book I did manage to paint a squad and a Dreadnought from the box so I can’t say it was a total waste, again even if I don’t like the Mark VI armor.
