Day of the Dwarves! Return of the Slayers?

When The War of Settra’s Fury Arcane Journal was released I was instantly tempted to build a Slayer list. I looked them up on the Games Workshop site, realized how expensive they are these days and gave up. A short time later a friend was talking about the few items he had left from back when he worked at Games Workshop in the 90’s when staff could buy minis for the cost of the lead and lo and behold he had a veritable pile of classic slayers. His offer was pretty darn good so I pounced on the deal. We finally got together and he now has more cash and I have more Dwarfs! Well over 2.5 pounds of them to be precise! I’m not convinced the army is very good but YouTube star Dawi After Dark has me convinced I’ll have some fun with them and really that’s all that matters!

He even snuck a few characters into the bag including Ungrim Ironfist, the one class Dwarf character I didn’t already have, and Gotrek and Felix, two models I have been looking for for quite some time! As you can see by looking at the pile there are 43 regular slayers and a boat load of Daemon Slayers and Dragon Slayers. I also already own four Doomeseekers, but looking online I’ll need to buy at least one more pack, if not more.

One of the hardest parts will be trying to replicate the skin and hair tone I got when I painted these guys up fifteen or so years ago! Perhaps even harder will be finding bases I like. I originally used cobblestone bases from Back 2 Base-ix but the have very limited sizes and since I need to rebase my old army I need more than just the 25mm x 25mm and two other odd size bases they have for war machines and such. Most of the bases I have seen have been too ornate or not chunky enough. If you are reading this and have a good brand please hit me up in the comments!

It has been too long since I’ve launched the Dwarves into my foes and while these guys probably don’t amount to a full 2,000 points army I’d be very happy to put them to the field in a Path to Glory Warband game!
