Recently I was able to stop in at Waterloo Games in Mechanicsville Virginia. I know this store has been around for quite some time so I had some high hopes and I was not disappointed!
As soon as you walk in the store you see rows and row full of product. Wandering the aisles I saw full lines of almost all the popular current games from the giants of 40k and Age of Sigmar, to Flames of War, Star Wars Shatterpoint, Bolt Action and less popular games such as Konflict ’47, Halo Flashpoint, and many others. They had a large board game selection, and one of the most impressive snack bars I’ve seen at a gaming store! They even had a ton of Blood Bowl pitches and I grabbed one to go with my sons Lizardman team! Another cool thing they had was homemade terrain for sale at very good prices. Terrain is often overlooked and it was cool to see the shop supporting that market!

In the middle of the store you are confronted by an angry Mimic, but one that you would probably be willing to face down to get a handful of dice! On top of these seemingly endless single die options you could naturally buy sets too!

One of my favorite parts of the shop was the display case with used figure in it. There was a wide range of figures, including some old school Armorcast Chaos vehicles! I picked up a set of plastic Gretchin for the other boy from this case!

Waterloo Games has plenty of gaming space too! There were about 10 6’x4′ gaming tables, an area set up for roll playing, and even a row of painting stations!

On top of all of this there was enough friendly staff on hand to help everyone who needed it. Great stock, great gaming space, great snacks, and great staff, this store has it all. If you get a chance to stop in I highly recommend it. If you live within whatever you determine easy driving distance to be I’d definetly consider making this your friendly local gaming store!

PS You can find Waterloo games on the internet at doublecgames.com. As of March 2026 the waterloogames.com URL takes you to the doublecgames website, I’m guessing there was a recent change in ownership.
