You may have recently read my review of the Warp Cheese Dice a friend gave me from Baron of Dice. I liked them so much I put in a big order of six sets of dice to match a few of my planned armies, a current army, and as holiday gifts! I’m not going to do a review of every product, but I bought the Magical Eves Dice in Square Edge instead of the Round Edge dice I figure these are different enough to earn their own review.
Baron of Dice dice sets come in these nice tins with a plastic window so you can see which set you are grabbing. The tins close nice and snug so they are unlikely to pop open accidentally unless you really treat them rough. (You might think you are having déjà vu reading that line, and I can tell you you are! No reason to reinvent the wheel, the line was true for the Warp Cheese Dice and any other dice Baron of Dice provides!

The dice are provided with a nice layer of foam so they are not only held in tight but are well protected. You get 25 16mm dice in each set and have the option of choosing rounded edge or square edge, you also have the option to get the smaller 12mm dice. The designs replace the 6 on the dice and are nice and crisp. I love the subtle marble effect and the color scheme will fit perfectly with my Warmaster High Elves. I mean, why wouldn’t I but dice for a game I’ve never played with an army that still isn’t painted?

Once again what I said about the Warp Cheese Dice works for the price, so quoting myself “Each set is $34.99 for 25. While they aren’t inexpensive they are certainly more than competitive against Games Workshop’s custom dice which are $44.00 for 20 16mm dice.”
Comparing the square edge dice to the round edge dice it turns out I prefer the round edge dice. The square edge dice don’t roll across the table as nicely, however, that can be a benefit as well as they don’t roll quite as violently and far away as the round edge dice do. I’m not concerned about how much they roll, as they do in fact still roll and with a vigorous shake in the hands before tossing them they are just as random as they would be with a roll. I do think I prefer the round edge dice for how they feel so in the future I will make sure to order those, but if there was a design they had and only square edge was available I wouldn’t let that dissuade me.
All in all these are a terrific product and are well worth it for the OCD gamer who likes matching their accessories to their army!
