Recently a friend of mine gave me a set of Warp Cheese Dice from Baron of Dice when we met up for a game of Age of Sigmar. I had agreed to get an army ready for the game when we were to see each other at Fall In! and I kept him up to date with the progress of converting my Skaven that I used back in 3rd-5th edition Warhammer to Age of Sigmar. This was a total surprise gift and I have to say I am thrilled with it! If I were to have selected the dice I probably would have gone with the warpstone green and the Skaven symbol, but lets be honest, these are way funnier!
Baron of Dice dice sets come in these nice tins with a plastic window so you can see which set you are grabbing. The tins close nice and snug so they are unlikely to pop open accidentally unless you really treat them rough.

As you can see the dice are provided with a nice layer of foam so they are not only held in tight but are well protected. You get 25 16mm dice in each set and have the option of choosing rounded edge or square edge. My buddy got me the rounded edge and I really like the look and feel. If you prefer the square edges you can give them a shot. You can tell these are high quality dice and I love the color swirl. While the swirl isn’t super pronounced in this set due to the colors used they still give a nice subtle effect.

Don’t let this in game roll fool you though, I’ve given them plenty of test runs and they certainly appear to be well balanced!

Each set is $34.99 for 25. While they aren’t inexpensive they are certainly more than competitive against Games Workshop’s custom dice which are $44.00 for 20 16mm dice. You can definatly play without custom dice, but rolling these bad boys and seeing your armies symbol come up, on the 6 as The Great Horned Rat would demand of course, makes it all the more fun! Baron of Dice also sells 12mm dice but I haven’t seen them yet and I can’t find decent comparison pictures on their website. Maybe if you come back to this blog in a few weeks I’ll have some comparison pictures. This is totally hypothetical of course. Totally. Especially if you are my wife reading this less than a month before Christmas….
The only problem I have with these dice is they have rekindled my love of matching dice to my army and now I’m hooked!

PS Am I the only one who insists on storing themed dice with the symbol facing up? You need to train them after all!
