I was a little behind this year in finishing my Orctober entry but I did manage to finish. When a friend said he’d like to play Age of Sigmar Spearhead I quickly rebased my Skaven for the task and looking around I realized if I rebased some goblins and paint some trolls I could do a Gloomspite Gitz list as well. By the end of the month I was mostly done but I needed to finish the spots on the mushrooms and add the neon alien tufts from Gamers Grass. I did have a shaman from the Battle for Skull Pass painted but I decided I wanted to paint the awesome Brian Nelson goblin shaman for this army. I’ll be finishing him up next!
You’ll notice my squig hoppers are a mix of both options available to the unit, but considering it’s Spearhead I don’t think anyone will mind a mix of models. I had initially painted them up for a jousting game so I wanted as many variants as possible. I also painted all the squigs different colors as I was using them as examples for a painting class I was teaching with Hobby University a few years ago. Back then I bought a punch of resin mushrooms from Greenstuff World to add to the bases but didn’t get around to it so I was glad to finally add them to this force after rebasing everything.
Next up I have to finish the Loonboss (ie the Brian Nelson sculpt) and the Troggoths (I’ll be using old school Stone Trolls.) I hope I get to play more than twice a year, but even if I don’t it’s nice to give these old models a new lease on life!
