Saturday started off with me brewing some fresh coffee for the Hobby U and WNPG crew, I wasn’t going to let a little thing like not being at home stop me from a fresh cup of coffee!

Since I spent most of the day going to my boys lacrosse tournament I didn’t have much going on until later afternoon but I did get a pictured of some good looking games and hung out at the Crokinole doubles tournament. As TJM commented in an earlier post I could start with a cheaper board before going all in….

I spent the evening helping out with the WNPG Toys for Tots auction and as always throwing tickets in the raffle to no avail! I got some dice out of the deal, I think they only cost me $8 each. It’s ok, it’s for the kids after all!

After the auction, raffles, the Chariot Race put on by Five Guys and a Lawyer, and a matching $2,000 dollar donation from Santa Mo’s employer we raised $14,000 for Toys for Tots! The Five Guys and a Lawyer and their chariot race took in $4,637 on it’s own! Additionally, over 120 toys were donated with a lowball estimated value of $600! This was the most amount of toys ever donated at the event!
If you missed out on the event, or you want to spread more Christmas cheer Santa Mo will once again to doing a virtual auction, you can find details over on the Wednesday Night Painting Group’s Toys For Tots Charity Event Facebook page!
After packing everything up from the WNPG auction and raffle I played a game of Age of Sigmar with one of my fellow Hobby University instructors. He was kind enough to gift me a set of dice from the always awesome Baron of Dice, and as you can tell from the picture they rolled really well! The hordes of the perfidious Skaven were able to overwhelm the constructs of the Ossiarch Bonereapers leading to a Skaven victory!

On Sunday morning we did a quick pack out of the Hobby University room, we are getting really efficent after all these years and the whole thing only took about 20 minutes.

I then went to the flea market and vendor hall where I picked up a few goodies. The flea market was held upstairs this year. While the lighting is terrible there was more elbow room and we weren’t all herded into a small space, so there are positives and negatives.

I guess a few goodies might be a bit of a misnomer as I got a veritable armada of Sails of Glory ships. I wasn’t thinking until I got home that I should have picked up a gaming mat as I don’t have anything for naval battles. Still, this was a really good haul because I’ve wanted to play Sails of Glory for a long time, and I’ve been looking for the ships to use for another system as well! The total haul only set me back $150! I thought I was going to make it out of the show only spending $50 (plus the donation to Toys for Tots of course) but I’m very happy with this purchase!

I have to say I absolutely love the convention t-shirt made by TR Historical. The shirt is terrific quality and the design is both sharp looking and professional. I told anyone who would listen that I would love for TR Historical to continue being the purveyor of the convention shirts. This is the first one I ever considered buying, and it was my first stop of the convention to ensure I could get one. Well done to whoever came up with the idea of passing this aspect of convention management on to a professional designer and company!
With my wares packed up it was time to grab a late breakfast before heading back down for more lacrosse. I had been thinking of Parlor Doughnuts since last year so it was a no brainer to stop off and grab some treats before heading out of town!

If you went to the convention what was your favorite part? I hope you had as much fun as I did, I look forward to the next HMGS convention, Cold Wars!
