An attempt at airbrushing

I’ve had my Badger airbrush for a few years and have used it with help a few times. As I’m planning on painting my Tabletop World walls I figured it was high time to give airbrushing another chance, this time solo! A friend helped me start at Historicon but I quickly decided without a mask, and trying indoors I should make the attempt some other time. He loaned me an airbrush with a 1.5 needle for greater spray and I promptly put it off. Well, a few weeks ago I decided to set up an airbrush station in my garage, which I promptly just used for rattle can spraying. After a trip to the store to get more paint to make sure I could knock out all the wall sections at once, and finding a nice enough day I got to work.

My set up, all organized and ready to go! I even got myself a filtered mask like a professional!

I was able to get the base coat done and two highlights on the wall sections and feeling adventurous I even sprayed some armorcast crystals I picked up a while back.

Things ended up going rather smoothly for me with the exception of a slight equipment malfunction. My buddies airbrush initially connected to my airbrush but after falling off twice I was unable to connect it again. A closer look showed his quick connect wasn’t threaded all the way down so it didn’t connect with my hose. I’m still not sure how it do so initially, but after a friend loaned me his hose the airbrush worked much better and the job went very quickly! I have a few projects to knock out between now and Fall In! so I probably won’t get back to all of these castle walls, but I would like to get one section done as a tutorial for one of my classes, fingers crossed!

Looks like I better see if I have a few more projects to airbrush before it gets too cold in the garage now that I’m all set up!
