Whenever I go out of town, I like to see if I can find a local hobby shop to check out. I happened to be in Colorado Springs, Colorado for work and a Google search for hobby shops turned up The Yellow King Games and Hobbies.
Walking into the store was a serious flashback to the hobby stores of my youth, back when they had a little bit of everything, and with a little bit of luck, you might find some old product hanging out on the shelves. This isn’t a super sanitized, bright lighting, modern day retail store but a real ode to classic gaming.

While there modern day, miniature gaming is pretty light they do have an extensive selection of board games.
There is a table of half off merchandise and other items where I picked up two issues of Spike! magazine for one of my boys. Check out that awesome homemade Reaver Titan! I told you this place was old school!

They even have a few bins of loose and out of production figures you can pick up for a few dollars each.

I was just about to walk up to the counter when I did a double take on seeing this beauty on the table! (Yes, it was an actual romcom double take!) the box said never played, and when the owner opened it up to show me what was included, you could tell this was probably true. The books and cardboard were all in perfect shape, the play guides weren’t even punched out! All the miniatures and bulkhead were new on sprue! It’s a shame I flew to this business trip!

It’s a shame because I’m going to have to wear multiple layers of clothes on the way home! The store owner, Mark, told me he was selling this for a friend who would be very happy to hear it was going to a good home. He was even happy to hear that I would actually be using it.

Even without this awesome find I would highly recommend stopping by The Yellow King Games and Hobbies if you happen to be in Colorado Springs!
