Product Review – Brigade Games Tiki Gnomes

At the various HMGS conventions I try to get in at least one game with the HMGS Next Gen crew. They use the Brigade Games Gnome Wars models for all sorts of games, including games set in the Old West, or actual Gnome Wars games. At Historicon I decided it was finally time to pick up my own army with the goal of getting them painted for Fall In! so I can use them in the bring and battle. I went down to Brigade games and they told me they had sold their entire lot, except for one pack of their new Tiki Gnomes, and the Tiki Gnome catapult. Well, considering I had just spent the night before drinking Tiki drinks and talking all things Tiki with a friend I felt this was an offer I couldn’t refuse so I bought them pretty much sight unseen! (It was darkish in the vendor hall and I didn’t have my glasses!)

When I got them home I realized I made a good call as these are super fun little models. I actually don’t know for certain, but I’m pretty sure from my research a basic Gnome Wars army is 16 figures so the regular pack is a full army.

The Tiki catapult is a fun add on, and the only model that has multiple pieces.

The models have very little mold lines and will be super easy to clean up. They are very chunky and have a lot of character. I have a feeling these will be a joy to paint!

I don’t remember how much I paid and they aren’t on the Brigade Games website but it looks like packs of 16 are $55 and artillery is around $9.

When I bought them I did not realize they were not wearing Tiki masks, rather those are their actual heads! A friend asked if I was going to paint them stone and it hit me they are Easter Island Gnomes and now I love them even more! Still, if you are reading this Brigade I’d love a faction of Gnomes wearing Tiki Masks!!!

I can’t wait to get to paint these silly little guys and get them ready to fight! I even picked up some outrigger boats from Diabolical Terrain to get them to the fight!

What do you think of these little guys? Do you love them like I do, or do you really love them, also like I do?

  1. Being a bit of a Gnomes War collector. I must have picked mine up right before you at Historicon. I pulled the trigger on 2 full units and 1 artillery. I think that they are awesome and full of character. I am going to try to paint them with colorful tribal face paint (tiki inspired)

I can’t wait to see how you paint yours up. Have fun!

We now just need their rules to get them into games.

    • I was told I got the last packs so that’s a good bet! Thanks for not buying three! I think I’m going to paint them stone but with plenty of bright Tiki colors! I’ve already based them!
