I just posted my review of The Old World Matched Play Guide which adds scenarios and objectives amongst other things to Warhammer The Old World. I used to run one day Warhammer Fantasy Battle tournaments so I painted all sorts of objective markets and hazardous terrain pieces. I figured it would be worth a look and walk down memory lane. (I did not paint the skull in the middle, it is one of the only wargaming pieces I picked up pre-painted at a convention!) I had to laugh at the archway, my gaming group used to call it the pot of queso. I tried making it look like some sort of mystical gateway but it ended up looking like I needed a side of chips. I’d would have painted over it but then their mockery would have won, so the queso lives on! I also noticed between that and the way stone in the top middle I could run the various herd stone scenarios the Arcane Journals are so fond of! The small bases have pieces of broken up asphalt from my driveway that I primed and then heavily dry brushed with Glistening Green, an old school Games Workshop metallic green. I can remember the look on my wife’s faces when she realized I wasn’t cleaning for cleanings sake, but rather harvesting terrain! I have about 50 of these painted up, I think they’ll work nicely as secondary objectives, and if I ever get back into Mordheim I’ll have Warpstone for days!

I don’t have anything for baggage trains, so I guess I better start working on those!
