Historicon 2025 – Saturday and Sunday

I didn’t get around to taking to many pictures the last two days of the convention, I was too busy bouncing around from teaching Hobby University classes to eating, to helping run the Iron Paintbrush.

I started the day with a falafel bagel from Saife’s Middle Eastern Food in the Lancaster Central Market.

I was able to fit my boys into my weathering class. Both my classes had eighteen total seats available over the weekend, I was able to fit 21 people in the weathering class, and I believe I had 17 seats filled in my new Ooh Shiny! class. This is definitely record attendance for me! The boys hard at work and the things we managed to finish at the convention!

Between classes I was lucky enough for my wife to deliver a meatball sub from Deli Grassi, again from the Lancaster Central Market.

After my second class I took one of the boys over the HMGS Next Gen and played in a Gnome Old West game using the Fistful of Lead rules. No one found the missing German Crown Prince (who as it turned out was drinking in the bar) but their was mayhem everywhere. I did get a rifle Gnome runover by an errant cart, and my leader was shot dead by my sons Gnomes before one of his riflemen avenged him but I did discover the most shiny dice so I’m claiming I won! I’m not sure I did, but it’s my blog and I’m claiming it!

After this game we went to dinner at the Southern Market where everyone in the group found something they liked. I finally got the Jaeger Schnitzel from the Cabbage Hill Schnitzel Haus and it was as amazing as it had looked all weekend. I’m glad I finally got around to having it, but very glad I didn’t have such a filling meal at 2:00 when my classes ended knowing I was going to be eating dinner at 6:00! One of my friends got the Pierogis and let me have one, it was amazing too! It actually had me wistfully remembering when their was a Pierogi shop at the Central Market, I would have loaded some up in the freezer for the trip back!

Finally at the end of the night we had the always crazy Iron Paintbrush competition. For the first time ever people were able to pre-register for the event and we ended up with 22 contestants. I’d like to thank the group of four who opted out to allow some very eager middle schoolers to play, they had a great time. We are currently working on a way to get people to be able to sign up as teams which will hopefully make things a bit smoother next time.

Our theme was the US Army from 1775 to 2775 and as always the results were super impressive, you can see them below for yourself!

Sunday morning was just packing up Hobby University and heading home. We did stop for a delicious bagel sandwich at Roundbreads Bakery in Lancaster on the way home, I was so hungry and it was so good I actually ate it without a picture!

All in all we had a terrific time at the convention and as always look forward to next year!
