I recently got a new assignment at work so I don’t have as many Sunday nights off as I used to. I was able to get the group together on 3-23-25 for a game night though so as always I’m going to share the highlights!
My buddy the Sylver Fox made his famous brisket, smoked baked beans, and smoked cornbread. As you can probably see by looking at it it was just perfect!

That set us up for a good game of Et Sans Resultat. Since I was actually ahead of schedule for my painting for the month I jumped in and controlled a mixed Force of Austrians and French. The Sylver Fox controlled a Force of French as we tried to break through the defending Russians. It has been a while since I actually played ESR and I gave the wrong orders to the from formations at the beginning. Fortunately for me I was able to get it sorted out at just the right time to slow my troops down so they could assault the Russian lines en masse instead of piecemeal. My lead formation did come under the enemy guns early but were mostly able to weather the storm, in large part due to the Russians unable to commit one of their batteries due to poor rolling! Speaking of rolling both my Russian opponent and I killed our opposing formation commanders in our first leader fate phase! (In ESR you only kill the opponents commander by first rolling snake eyes on 2D6, and then rolling on another chart!)

The French and Austrians advance upon the Russians. My troops are on the right side of the picture.

The Austrians and the French on the left of my line go in against the Russians, while the fatigued unit of French in the center rest on the defense.

The Russians had already been slightly fatigued (4 points) from the cannonade of the center French, and were no match for two Formations of charging infantry!

After driving the Russians back the Austrians charged down the road into the retreating Russians and while they only connected with one stand they won the combat handily and caused the Russians on this flank to break. With this the Russian player knew his day was over and the French would take the road network!

We had a great time playing, and I look forward to playing again! Maybe I’ll even paint my own Austrians I got almost a year ago to the day….
