Thursday is generally considered the first full day of Adepticon. Tournaments start, the full vendor hall opens and the madness begins. Let’s see how my day went!
I started the day by helping The Wargaming Company run the morning session of Et Sans Resultat. The French cavalry had one of the most successful charges of infantry I’ve ever seen, taking good advantage of the fact the infantry hadn’t made much progress in deployment. Overall the game ended essentially in a draw with the Austrians about to sweep the flank but night fell thwarting the flank attack!

After I helped run this game, I was starving, and seeing all the little Bavarians running around I knew lunch today had to be German food! The Old German Beer Hall was in easy walking distance and so that’s where I led my group. I have the Jaeger schnitzel with spaetzle, we got a giant pretzel with a wonderful cheese spread for the table, and of course beer. I ended the meal with in Apfel strudel. The only mistake I made was not getting a liter of beer as I ended up getting two half liters anyway!

After lunch I had to go back to get my figures for the Arena Rex tournament so I grabbed a cortado at Collectivo before heading back.

I saw a few more sites walking the city today so of course I took a few more pictures!

I then spent an hour wandering the vendor hall to plan future purchases and took pictures of some of the displays. Companies coming to Adepticon don’t pull any punches when it comes to salesmanship!

During the evening I played in the Arena Rex Trials of Cerberus. As always it was a fun event with lots of great Ludus! I ended up winning a miniature due to their generous prize support and one of the other players offered up his prize so he gave me the official battle mat! What a night!

While wandering between rounds I saw an awe inspiring 28mm scale Titan combat game and a 30k game taking place in the always cool Death Ray Designs corridor system.

Having played right through dinner we went and had some healthy snacks and beer at the Milwaukee Brat House. The fried cheese curds were all they were cracked up to be!!!!

Another successful day, I can’t wait to see what Friday has in store!
Total step count: 13094, 6.50 miles.
