The Old World Battle Report Nurgle vs Bretonnia

I’ll be honest, this won’t be much of a battle report as the Forces of Nurgle got absolutely crushed by the Bretonnians. The Pegasus riding hero with his monster killing blow ran amuck killing everything it was launched out in one turn while the Daemons couldn’t catch a break against the ward saves of the Knights. Still, there are some pretty pictures so that’s worth something!

The opening set up.

The forces of Nurgle got the first turn and for some reason decided to advance. Mistake number one for me!

The Bretonnians advanceup the middle and charge in and crush the Plague Flies on their right before overrunning into the Beasts of Nurgle. On the left flank the Knights and that pesky hero charge the Soul Grinder, and the hero cuts down the monster with his monstrous killing blow before he could even try and swing back!

The forces of Nurgle launch a counter attack in an attempt to defeat the knights in detail. Despite being hit in the flank the knights hold, but the peasent bowman get chased down by the Nurglings, so I had that going for me….

The Knights charge into the rear of the Plaguebears to rescue their knightly brethren. I had joined my Great Unclean One with the Plaguebearers, which is apparently not allowed, and it really messed me up as the Bretonnian mage was able to drop a spell preventing them from charging. In retrospect I think as she was in combat she wouldn’t have been able to cast the spell, but not knowing this was mistake 2, and it would have just delayed my inevitable loss.

In the Nurgle turn the Deamons just manage to be ineffective at killing knights and are slowly ground down before the Bretonnian knights charge the fresh block of Plaguebearers. The Knights continued to kill off Plaguebearers but the diseased servants of Nurgle survive due to excellent unitability tests.

The Great Unclean One finally charged into the flank of the Knights but was too late to change the course of the combat. He even missed the opportunity of crushing the Damsel who was right in front of him, yet another mistake!

The hero on Pegasus saw the tempting target of the Great Unclean One, charged and once again managed to kill his opponent in one blow!

With this we called the game after only three turns. I had nothing left that could do anything and it was an almost total destruction of the forces of evil.
