Sylver Todde Designs – Product Review

My good friend Todd is an excellent craftsman and is well known in our circle for his amazing cabinetry. He’s so good he was hired by the Historical Miniatures Gaming Society to make storage cases for the organizations pipe and drape amongst other things. A few years ago he made me this amazing gaming table.

We spent some time working out ideas of features to include and dimensions. I suggested he make the table bar height so we could lean on it and not have to stoop over to use it. Todd suggested making the table 6’ x 10’ but I felt that would make it too difficult to get to the middle so we went with 5’ x 8’. I think we made the right call on the 5’ wide but the 10’ long might have been nice. Still, most games I play required a 4’ x 6’ table so this gives plenty of room for casualties and rule books.

Another feature I really wanted was storage underneath. This table has that in spades as you can see below!

The base is made up of four cabinets, each one is 38.5” wide, 20” deep, has 34” in height at the opening with a total interior height of 38.5”. The shelves are adjustable, and in fact I have another 4 shelves if I decide I need to use them. Considering I mostly play with 28mm miniatures I need more space between shelves but it’s nice to have the option.

Todd surprised me with the next feature, the table is wired for electricity! There are 4 banks of outlets which each have 2 three prong outlets and 2 USB outlets. With 8 of each you won’t run out of juice playing here!

My absolute favorite feature is the rail that goes all the way around the table. This rail allows drink holders, keeping your frosty beverages off the table and away from your painted miniatures and less likely to fall into this work of art!

Todd has recently launched his own website and is taking commissions. If you are interested in having a functional work of art in your house I highly suggest reaching out to him!

The only bad thing about this table is I really feel obliged to finish my basement. This work of art doesn’t belong in that dungeon!
