We decided to add three objectives across the board. The side with the most units of unit strength 5 or more at the end of the game would earn an extra 200 victory points per objective.
The Nurgle Daemons formed up around the house which was in the middle of the deployment zone while the Rot Flies and Nurglings deployed on the far right flank to face off against the Silver Helms. I figured they’d make quick work of the Silver Helms on the flank, we will see how that turned out as the game developed.

The High Elves deployed across the entire length of the battlefield.

The forces of Nurgle shambled forward on their first turn.

A lucky shot from the Soul Grinder’s Warp Gaze knocked two wounds off one of the Archmages on lion chariot!

On the High Elf turn the Elves jockeyed for position while the Silver Helms charged the Rot Flies. I knew I’d be in charge range but figured the flies could survive a unit of elves then get into the action somewhere else later on. With a flurry of armor saves from the Silver Helms each side only put on a single wound but with the Silver Helms having full command they won by one. Fortunately they rolled low on their break test so they stuck around and didn’t take any wounds.

In the shooting phase two Plaguebearers were immolated by a fireball…

and a pillar of fire took out two more.

On the Nurgle turn 2 the Soulgrinder focused his Warp Gaze on the Frostheart Phoenix causing two wounds!

The Rot Flies and the Silver Helms continued to battle. Once again the Rot Flies lost, but with a much worse roll on the break test they lost a full fly. I thought the flies would eat the Silver Helms but they were making some serious armor saves!

The High Elf turn saw a few charges. The Archmage General and the Frostheart Phoenix charged the Soulgrinder and the Dragon Princes and the wounded Archmage charged the Beasts of Nurgle. The Great Eagle moved to block the Great Unclean One from getting into the fight and the Swordmasters moved up on the Rot Flies.

Another exciting turn saw a further ineffective round of combat between the Rot Flies and the Silver Helms.

The Soulgrinder was able to finish off the Frostheart Phoenix. While the Souldgrinder took some wounds in return the combat was a draw and the remaining combatants stayed locked in combat.

The Dragon Princes made contact with the Beasts of Nurgle but the Chariot couldn’t fit due to the rocky outcrop in the middle of the line. The charge of the heavy cavalry was blunted by the toughness, ward saves, and regeneration saves of the friendly beasts and with their Great Unclean One watching on they passed their break test.

In a flurry of blows the Rot Flies finally found the chinks in the Silver Helms armor and killed the unit off. The couldn’t pass their test to restrain and overran.

The Archmages Pillar of Fire rolled through the Plaguebearers on the Daemons turn killing three before the Great Unclean One dispelled the whirling pillar of death.

The Plaguebearers charged the Great Eagle and killed it off with ease before overrunning into the flank of the Dragon Princes. Aiding the Beasts of Nurgle they helped push the cream of Caledor chivalry back two inches.

The Soulgrinder and the Archmage General continued their fight. The Soulgrinder knocked the General down to 1 wound and he fled to safety behind the Lothern Sea Guard as the Soulgrinder stumbled forward a mighty three inches.

The Archmage found room to charge and hit the Plaguebearers in the flank. The Plaguebearers took some wounds and the forces of Nurgle lost the combat. The Plaguebearers were pushed back at a diagonal blocking the Great Unclean One from joining the combat on it’s turn!

In the shooting phase the Lothern Sea Guard put a single wound on the Great Unclean One! They put on two initially but his foul ward saved him from one of the wounds.

On the Nurgle Turn the Great Unclean One sidestepped to get a better chance at charging the Archmage on his next turn. The Soulgrinder decided against charging the block of Lothern Sea Guard in an attempt to shoot the fleeing Archmage General. He missed with his Warp Gaze and the Harvester Cannon only rolled a two for shots and failed to wound!

Meanwhile on the other flank the Rot Flies had been engaged in a protracted combat with the Swordmasters killing a few at a time but not breaking them. The Nurgling swarms jumped in the combat and helped finish the unit off. What an inglorious way to die for these noble warriors, covered in a horde of living snot!

One of the Swordmasters turned and ran and was caught by the victorious Nurglings!

On the High Elf turn the Archmage General cast a flight spell and flew to the side of the Soulgrinder. The Dragon Princes continued to push around the Beast of Nurgle, finally killing one, and the Archmage in the chariot killed the rest of the Plaguebearers leaving just the Battle Standard Bearer and his palanquin standing.

On the Nurgle turn the Dragon Princes were combo charged by the remaining Beast of Nurgle and the Plaguebearers. The Dragon Princes opted to flee so both units charged into the Archmage to exact revenge for killing the other Plaguebearer unit. The Great Unclean One moved forward to unleash a magic missile on the fleeing Dragon Princes. With a terrific roll on his part, and a terrible round of armor saves saw three of the Dragon Princes go down!

The Soulgrinder was able to turn to face the Archmage General and once more struck true with the Warp Gaze killing the mage.

With only the Lothern Sea Guard, a fleeing Dragon Prince, and the Archmage with one wound (and we hadn’t worked out that combat yet) my opponent threw in the towel. Controlling all three objectives and with the casulties inflicted I had my first win for the Daemons of Nurgle!
The final state of the battlefield.
