The sound of revving engines was only matched by the yells and screams that the various drivers and crew were adding to the cacophony as the Evil Sunz waited for the order to attack in the pre-dawn darkness. Vorrgash was frankly surprised by this show of respect to ‘da plan’ the bikers were showing and admitted to himself that Nazdreg threatening to tear them all limb from limb if they didn’t stick to what he told them seamed to be paying off.
That said, they were not all that happy about it. “Oi, ya big-toofed lump – when can we get goin’?” screamed one of the riders, “yeah, we are gonna miss all da fun if ya don’t pull yer finger out an’ give da go-ahead” called another. Vorrgash sighed and looked back at the hill where Nazdreg had set up his command post. “Da boss said we gotta wait till we see da red smoke!” one of Vorrgash’s boys unhelpfully reminded him. “I know dat. You wanna tell ‘em yourself?” he shot back. Just then, the humans started to attack firing flares which fizzed a dark red as they dropped to the ground. “Dat’s it boyz. Let’s go!” cried the Evil Sunz nob, sat atop a pedestal on the back of one the bikes and they were off in a shot. “Dont even say it, ya git” Vorrgash fired at his mob before any could ask if that was the right smoke, and they started forwards to take advantage of the carnage that the bikers would sow in the enemy ranks.
With this months pledge done, that’s the original plan for this challenge completed! Ive got a few more additions for my force however, so am planning on using next month for those extra troops! This month, however was all about the Speed Freaks that I had to paint up. Specifically a mob of Ork bikers and a couple of additional Speedsta’s. The Ork biker, with twin auto cannons can be particularly deadly and packs such a punch that these can often be bullet magnets in the early rounds, allowing the rest of the army to get into position, and if you can manoeuvre around the table then they can provide a deadly flank assault on enemy infantry or artillery at the rear of their force. In light of that, I have taken a group of 4 bikes, with and Nob to lead them into the fray.
Additionally, I had another pair of Speedsta’s to go with the Bubble Chukka from month 3, this time armed with a pair of battle cannons and a lascannon. I have looked to cost them up the same way as I did before. This makes this months pledge a total of 6 models coming in at,
Nobz Bike, with plasma gun and power fist 49 points
3 Ork Warbikes 135 points
Twin linked Battlecannons Speedsta 135 points
Lascannon Speedsta 65 points
Total points for the month 384 points
Total points for the challenge so far including this months 1,546 points
Looks like I might have exceeded the starting limit somewhat with all my bonus mini’s so far, but that’s not really a problem when forming a Waaargh, and I hope to extend that total next month!
As always, you can follow along with my various Middlehammer projects over on instagram, @ad80_herohammer
Wachtmeister: Going over your initial pledge in only 5 months certainly isn’t a problem Alex, especially when the army looks as terrific as this one does! Congratulations on finishing, I look forward to the bonuses next month!

Ahhhhh procrastination. The painters best friend.
Having finished everything I needed last month I really sat down and got to work on my bonuses. Had everything ready by the twelfth and then took photos on the 24th.
Anyway, I pulled out all the half finished genestealers I had. All stuff with enough paint that I wouldn’t have felt good saying I started from scratch – even when I virtually did.
I painted 1 in the blue I had already used earlier and another 10 in a slightly darker colour.
Meanwhile I’ve been slowly getting through a horde of 30 scum of the spaceways. Very basic humans to boost the cult force as newly hypnotized recruits. These got whatever paintjob I wanted. If none are painted a like somehow they end up being cohesive.
Will be back with my final little bonus round next month.
30 brood brothers with autoguns at 210 points, 11 genestealers at 286 points.
Wachtmeister: Adrian managed to paint more in 12 days than I did all month. This is nothing new but I can really feel it when he mentions procrastination! Thanks for reminding me to not procrastinate this month Adrian! I’m sure I’ll totally get an early jump this month! Totally!

“Greetings fellow speed freakz! How’s the scorcha fuel line going? What’s that? Well get another gretchin to keep pumping after the first one dies and then you can keep setting fire to things!”
Another month down and somehow I have not used my mulligan for the challenge!!! Honestly I am astounded that I have been able to keep going, since this is technically my second greenskin army in 12 months XD Having said that, there was a lot of red in this month’s slice as it was finally time to do the bulk of the Evil Sunz contingent. A wartrak, two warbikes and a scorcha are all coming off the production line and it feels great to have some fast heavy weapons done!
As well as the speedy fellas, I also managed to finally get started on some ogryns, with three of them being finished before the end of the month! I stuck with my classic Imperial Guard scheme of the Oedo 808th regiment as I will definitely be using these guys in both armies (depending on who is paying better at the time).
Finally, I was lucky enough to receive one of the amazing Rogue Trader Weirdboy sculpts from an old friend recently and so decided to get him finished up as well. So much character in the models from this era and I managed to tick off a few of them off my bucket list in this project – definitely feeling very lucky!
Thanks for reading 🙂
Slice 5:
Wartrak with Lascannon (60pts)
Scorcha (50pts)
2 Warbikes (90pts)
Bonus models:
3 Ogryns: Mesh armour and ripper guns (150pts)
1 Weirdboy with 2 monderz (85pts)
Total: 435pts
Wachtmeister: Once again Martin knocks it out of the park. That Weirdboy has so much character I love him! The winner for me this month is the Ogryn with the helmet. That small detail adds so much character. Being able to use the same unit in two armies is definitely a bonus of using the same basing across armies, something I just can’t manage to get myself to do for some reason!

Hello all,
This months slice for me was a unit of Death company !!
These crazed fanatics are kit bashed from chaos and space marine bits .
For me the chaos kit fits perfectly with the fleshtearers and all the chain weapons .
As always can’t wait to see everyone’s great work!!
If you like the look of my stuff please check out my instagram https://www.instagram.com/ebpminis?igsh=MWV1bWs0MXlocW5lZQ%3D%3D&utm_source=qr
Wachtmeister: These Death Company marines look particularly brutal with the chaos bodies, but despite their origin they still look suitable loyalist. I love how small tweaks can make a big difference in the feel of a model!

Here we are, month 5! One more month to go in the challenge!
This month marks my completion of my pledge. Everything from here on out is bonus material. And, speaking of bonuses, my ripper swarm has multiplied! While pursuing this challenge, I happened to stumble upon a few more rippers. What started as one base multiplied to two, three, four, five, six! Watch out, space marines, each base puts out more attacks than a carnifex – 5 to 4! I love the mini-Trygon appearance of these guys.
I also re-painted my exocrine. I bought this guy off eBay three years ago and initially painted him a tan/deep red. This new updated scheme is much more satisfying. I couldn’t strip the model due to its size, but feel it didn’t lose any detail for having a second paint layer added to the first.
Finally, the malefactor. There was much more detail on this model than I expected. My favorite part of the model are the claw vents – the vivid blue really seems to pop!
With month six on the horizon, I’m brooding about what bonus to paint next. I’m sure I’ll make up my mine and decide biovore too long…
TJM – Month 5
6 Ripper Swarms – 120 points
1 Malefactor – 80 points
1 Exocrine – 165 points
Total: 8 models, 365 points
Wachtmeister: TJM is a poet and he just doesn’t know he is! Another terrific job by TJM and congratulations is in order for completing the challenge a month early. These big Tyranid gribblies keep popping up and I love everyones individual take. I have a feeling the Armorcast market is going to get more expensive with all these figures being lovingly painted!
The waves keep getting smaller with mulligans and Sanction Redactus but the contestants are still chugging along. Join us Friday for Wave 2 of Month 5!
