Gaming Night 6-30-24 – A Late Fathers Day

If you’ve been following this blog you’ll notice one of my regular game groups meets on Sunday night. Normally my kids will come downstairs check out the action, heckle a few people and leave. For the last few years my gaming group has had a Fathers Day game day where we meet earlier and the kids come and play.

This year I had to take the boys to a lacrosse tournament so we needed to reschedule. I met a new person on the interwebs who is going to be running a Mordheim campaign at a local store and he mentioned his 14 year old son was going to play as well. I figured now was as good a time as any to introduce my boys to the game and he volunteered to come over and help us out! I played my Skaven in one game, and one of the boys pushed Dwarf treasure hunters using my Warhammer Dwarf army as stand-ins. My other son pushed a warband provided by the new guy as was one of my friends. Another friend who showed up pushed a random assortment of Battle Masters and GW figures. Almost everyone played two games, except the new guy who helped run the games, and me who spent the second game time painting minis.

I almost forgot to take a picture of dinner. Burgers, tater tots, and a chopped salad. Delicious and right on par for Fathers Day!

A few pictures of games in progress, and a dwarf charge against the Skaven!

Smiles and thumbs up all around!

We don’t always do dessert, but Fathers Day (even late) calls for an ice cream sundae bar!

Once again we had a lot of fun, and I am reminded how lucky I am to have two boys who want to game with me. If you are a Dad reading this please make sure to find some extra time to spend with your kids. One of the guys was going to bring his son who plays all sorts of miniature games but he decided to hang out with friends instead. We don’t get a lot of time before the kids grow up, let’s make sure we use it while we have it!
