Normally I use Simple Green to strip paint from my miniatures. It has worked wonders for the metal parts but it hasn’t done much for the plastic parts. A friend suggested I try LA’s Totally Awesome so I have it a shot.

It is doing a much better job with the metal pieces but I’m still having a hard time budging the paint off the plastic pieces. Looking into my bits you can see some of the paint hasn’t budged at all! Still I can highly recommend LA’s for metal. Some pieces had tarnished and LA’s helped me scrub it right off getting the figures bright and shiny. Still, if you have any ideas for stripping plastic please comment below!
So far my wine hasn’t milked me for using the colander and her sink for cleaning minis, although maybe she’s feeling generous as today is our anniversary….

For plastic minis, I usually soak them for several days at a minimum if not several weeks. I fill a carryout container with the LA’s and put the minis in, snap lid on, and then let them sit. Then I’ll scrub them with an old toothbrush or tough bristle brush while rinsing under running water. After a week or two the paint should come off almost all parts of the plastic, unless some barbarian used enamel paint 🙂

It’s weird, the paint came right off the metal, but is still sticking to plastic. I gave it a heavy scrub, it’s a good enough!
