After going to the Richmond Open we decided to go to Your Hobby Place in Fredericksburg on our way home. I have never actually been to Your Hobby Place in person, but have talked to their employees many times as they are always vendors at the HMGS shows.

Walking in you can see the store is quite large and has space dedicated to retail and gaming. Perusing the shelves they have extensive product for many of the most popular game systems on the market. They have an extensive line of Games Workshop products, including the smaller systems such as The Age of Darkness, Necromunda, and Legions Imperialis. They have Flames of War, Bolt Action, Star Wars Legion, Shatterpoint, Marvel Crisis Protocol, and the list goes on. They also have a great selection of D&D products, board games, and hobby supplies such as paints, brushes and so on. If you want to play it, you can probably get it at Your Hobby Place!

One of the unique things about Your Hobby Place is they have a display case with used figures. They had a whole bunch of really nicely painted Star Wars Legion minis for super cheap. They were based really nice but they didn’t match my style. As it was I picked up this AT-RT, a full squad of magma guard, and a mech droid for the price of the magma guard alone. AND they were already assembled! It was all the fun of a flea market while being in an actual shop!

The store had a bunch of painted figures on display in the gaming area. I really like when stores have painted figures on display, it always gives me fond memories of going to shops as a kid.

Your Hobby Place has about five miniature gaming tables in the back of the store, and a good amount of card gaming tables set up as well. The back area is really well lit which is nice to see as so many stores are just a little too dark. Yes I know this makes me sound old. No, I don’t care!
