When the Orc and Goblin Tribe Arcane Journal came out I grabbed a copy from my FLGS. In this post I let you know what is in it!

What does the Arcane Journal for the Orc and Goblin Tribes add?

The Arcane Journal adds a game scenario, two special army lists, two special characters, four different units, a new lore of magic for the trolls and three pages of new magic items. It also has a little extra fluff, and some more full color pictures.

The Looters and Raiders Nomadic Waaagh! is an all mounted army, with the exception of their giants. The Brutes of the Badlands Troll horde are troll heavy, as to be expected. One unit of trolls per every 1,000 points counts as core, and an extra unit per every 1,000 points for every Troll Hag you bring along. I love the Troll Hag and would love to pick one up. Time to start sourcing Trolls!
Much like Tomb Kings I have a (small) greenskin horde so could potentially make use of the magic items. Following on the theme of the Arcane Journals I think if you have the army it’s nice to pick the Arcane Journal, but if you don’t have the army and are just dipping your toes in I think you can easily get away with just using the Forces of Fantasy or the Ravening Hordes books.
I can’t blame not knowing what the Arcane Journals add to the armies this time around. Part of the reason I picked this one up was to help support the growth of The Old World at my local shop and encourage them to keep stocking it. As I have enough figures to run a few different armies buying a book lets me support my shop and get something I don’t have. Looks like I’ll keep buying the Arcane Journals after all….

Definitely Dwarfen Mountain Holds. They are my best looking army, and the one I use the most. I just need to decide how I’m going to rebase them….
