After a ten year hiatus Warhammer is back where it belongs: on square bases! Of all the games I’ve played I have played Warhammer Fantasy Battle the absolute most. While the newest version won’t be doing releases for all the old armies I am still thrilled for it to return. Of course I had to pick up a copy of the rules as soon as they were available and now I’m finally going to do a review of the rule book.
I don’t know how I managed to ding the top of the book already, but here it is in all its glory! You’ll notice it comes with a page ribbon, a feature I really like. Although, with a book this size it could probably use a few more!

The inside of the front and rear cover have a map of the Old World.

As can be expected from a Games Workshop book there are multiple double page spreads of beautifully painted armies.

The table of contents. As you can see there are about 90 pages of lore, 70 pages of basic rules, 70 of advanced rules, and another 70 of supplemental rules such as building an army list, setting up the battlefield, campaigns, and magic items.

On top of the army spreads there is a mixture of full color art and black a white art rendered in sepia tone.

I have enjoyed leafing through the book and checking out all the art. Some of it is new, some of it is from previous editions. The sepia tone helps connect the different art styles and the color images are just stunning. Now I just need to get to actually reading the rules!
