Adepticon 2024 Day 2

I started my day off by helping my friend set up his tables for his games of Et Sans Resultat. I saw on the Adepticon Facebook page Best Hobby is making a new game called Zeo Genesis and they needed people to help out. When I saw Gav Thorpe was one of the developers I had to throw my hat in the ring. I was asked to help Friday afternoon so I went down to get a demo game and got to meet the man himself! Gav is one of the Games Workshop greats and I was thrilled to be able to meet him. He is a super nice guy too!

I then took an Uber over to Portillo’s for a well balanced meal including an Italian Beef sandwich, a chili dog, onion rings, and a cake shake. Yes that is shake with a piece of cake blended in it!

I had the chance to check out the board game library, the Toledo Game Room (aka the bits guy), and the painting area.

I checked out two of the painting contests, The Creature Caster competition and the Atomic Mass The Worthy for Marvel Crisis Protocol.

I went out to pick a few things up from the grocery store and stopped by Kuma’s Corner for a beer and read through the Arena Rex rules. It only makes sense as I was playing in the tournament at night and had only read them once in the last month, and haven’t played more than two demo games in the past five years. Oh, one of them was before lunch today…. I also picked up a Poke bowl from Poke Bros for dinner. It was really delicious and fresh, if you are looking for something other than burgers and fried food I highly recommend it!

I then played in the Arena Rex tournament. I actually did pretty well, the guy who just edged me out in the last round ended up in third place out of 24 players. Red Republic Games are really cool guys and everyone got a prize. This was my first non-doubles tournament and I had a great time. I look forward to playing again!
