Flat Kanley, the Ork Dreadnought that came in the 40k 2nd Edition box set travels in my camera bag on our family vacations. This winter we went to the Florida Keys with the thought of going back to the Everglades National Park or Biscayne National Park. We ended up just resting and relaxing and so while Flat Kanley didn’t get many photo ops he did get a few! Here are some pictures from our trip!

When heading down from Miami to the Keys a stop at Knaus Berry Farms for a tray of cinnamon rolls. If you are lucky enough to be in Islamorada on a Thursday you can stop at one of the locals favorite establishments, the Oceanview Inn & Sports Pub for steak night and cheap beers. Stopping by Lazy Days for a blackened fish sandwich and a side of their famous banana bread is the perfect way to spend lunch (or dinner) while looking out at the water.

The water around Islamorada is chock full of fish, Steven pulled out 28 in a 3 hour period. I keep trying to tell him that’s not really how fishing works, but we had fun!

Meanwhile Flat Kanley enjoyed some rest and relaxation and stared down the local xenos lifeforms. He left his lascannon on standby but decided not to engage.

For a small village Islamorada has two really good breweries. Islamorada Brewery and Distillery (left and center)has some really good beers, and prebatched cocktails. You can even do a flight with their Key Lime Pie slushy! Florida Keys Brewing Company (right) has a big list and is a locals favorite.

Key lime pie and fresh fruit makes for a delicious breakfast while in the Keys! Tacos Jalisco has a food truck parked outside of the Florida Keys Brewing Company and is open Monday-Saturday. Try the Original burrito with steak and bacon, you won’t be disappointed! Finally on our way back to the airport in Fort Lauderdale we stopped at Siciliano’s Frozen Custard, a local favorite. Be prepared to eat quick, they put a layer of topping on the bottom of the cup and a layer on top of the ice cream so things melt quick!

After a few days away I was sad to go back to the grind, but Flat Kanley is ready to get to krumpin’ again!
