Once again I loaded the boys up for a trip down to the Williamsburg Muster. The Williamsburg Muster is run by the great guys of the Old Dominion Military Society, and they put on a terrific show. I was joined by a few of my friends and we got to enjoy some good games, and good food. The Muster always has a few tournaments, this year there was a Horus Heresy event, and a Bolt Action event. There were about ten vendors covering all sorts of wargaming needs too. They had plenty of games to walk up and join in and I managed to play two games, and the boys each got in three. I even managed to take a nap between games, the boys are finally at the age they can be left playing a game without issue! Now that is the biggest win of the weekend!
The boys love The Amber Ox Public House so I made reservations the week before heading down. We hit some traffic but I was able to find a detour to avoid the worst of it so we made it to our reservation just in time! We got the Southern Ham Board to start, I got a cocktail, and the boys did some impromptu modelling while waiting for dinner!

We went to the show, looked around a bit and went to bed. The convention has a deal with the Astronomical Pancake House and of course the boys were starving in the morning so we headed over before the morning game session began! The waffles are big, but the pancakes that passed by us were positively, well, astronomical! Check out that perfectly cooked corned beef hash!

Nicholas and I played in a great looking game of Sharpe Practice, while Steven played in ODGW’s Zombie Cowboy game.

Some pictures of the venue and games from the morning session.

ODMS arranged for Old City Barbeque to be on site with their food truck. They made some great sandwiches, and I got a heaping portion of brisket nachos. After lunch on site we ventured off to the Copper Fox Distillery. The boys played board games and my friend and I had an awesome Bananas Foster Old Fashioned!

When we got back from our excursion the boys played the Wild West Zombie game again, my buddy got into a board game, and I went to the room and the Warhammer The Old World rules and took a nap.

A few pictures I snapped of some of the games. The boys wanted to get into the Star Wars game but it had started already by the time we made it back.

For dinner we went to the Precarious Beer Project as my buddies wanted a beer and a burger. The smash burgers were really good but service was really slow. Fortunately, the game we wanted to play started at 8 so we made it in time!

Once again we ended the convention playing Arena Games, but this time the GM had painted but quite the crowd. He assured us at Historicon the arena will feature a sold out crowd! You can still see my gladiators name proudly displayed as the victor from last year, Dadicus The Great!

Some more pictures of the evening games.

The next morning we went to the Southern Pancake & Waffle House for some delicious chicken and waffles. They are a must have when we go to Williamsburg! Fortunately for our wallets we did not see anything we needed to have at the flea market so we got on the road to head home. Even more fortunately for us we made it home without traffic or having to reroute ourselves!
Once again the Williamsburg Muster lived up to what we expected and we had a terrific time. I always love this show and can’t wait to go to it again next year. Rumor has it the Clarion will be undergoing a major renovation over the following year which will only make the show better!
